Summer Weaving Classes Taught by Betty Vera



Beginning Weaving
Hand woven textiles are lovely to look at and delightful to touch. This weaving workshop is for any beginner who wants to learn about fibers, yarns, & weave structures. You’ll finish a weaving project on your own lap loom.

Adults & Children 8 +
Section 1 July 11, 12 13 , 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Tuition: $100 , $20 supply fee

Dye-Painting & Weaving on Harness Looms
Using pre-threaded table looms, you will hand-paint a colorful design on your warp yarns with easy-to-use, water-based Procion MX fiber-reactive dyes after the yarns are rinsed and dried, you will weave their painted warp into an eye-catching scarf or fashion accessory. No previous weaving or dyeing experience is necessary. The looms, dyes, & yarns will be provided, just come prepared to be amazed at how quickly & beautifully you can learn to dye and weave

Betty Vera’s woven images, integrating color and structure, have been featured in American Craft, Fiberarts, and Surface Design. A fibers instructor at Montclair State University and the Fashion Institute of Technology, she has received awards from the Empire State Crafts Alliance and the Ruth Chenven Foundation.
