Joining Angela Ferber, who is teaching fiber dyeing, spinning and weaving, is Nicole Loguisto who'll teach beginning and beyond the basics crochet classes.
Nicole joined our faculty after meeting Angela as a student in the drop spindle class offered during SummerArts. We are delighted to have her with us and look forward to meeting more future teachers.

FUN DAY in YONKERS
WEAVING DEMONSTRATION
Faculty and staff from the Continuing & Professional Studies Arts&Culture program participated in an arts awareness day at Yonkers High/Middle School on May 31. Staff demonstrated spinning and weaving to students, and some students had a chance to try out a 4-harness floor loom. The Arts & Culture program's mission is to create opportunities for the community to explore the arts and culture through a variety of learning experiences. We hope our successful day at Yonkers High/Middle School will encourage more schools and community agencies to seek us out.

SummerArts 2006
Fiber Arts coming to The Bronx
We're excited! We have Betty Vera returning to teach both her beginner's weaving class AND a fiber dyeing class using Procion MX fiber-reactive dyes. Participants will get to paint warps on harness looms. A great start to SummerArts 2006.
Betty will be joined by Angela Ferber who has a great beginning spinner's class using a drop spindle and Angela has agreed to host a Kool-Aid dyeing workshop. So if you ever thought you wanted to learn to weave, to spin or to dye fiber or fabric now's the time.
We'll keep you posted on our other instructors and their courses, and don't forget to email us so we can send you the SummerArts 2006 brochure when it's hot off the press.
