Now Offering Korean Traditional Knotting & Paper Art for Summer Art 2006!

Bronx Community College, Continuing & Professional Studies
SummerArts 2006 Adds More Fiber Arts Classes

In addition to classes taught by Betty Vera and Angela Ferber, the fiber arts offerings for SummerArts 2006 will also include classes taught by Karen Ahn.

Karen who is a member of the Asian American Artist, New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and Bronx Council on the Arts, will teach "Madeup" which is a Korean Traditional Knotting Art. Fiber enthusiasts can use the knotting techniques to embellish handwoven, knitted and fabric constructed accessories and garments. The techniques can also be used to create exquisite jewelry and wall hangings.

Karen will also teach the fine art of traditional Korean paper art, Hanji. This amazing art form can be used to make finely crafted traditional dishes, platters, as well as exquisite traditional fans. Karen will also teach you to use Hanji to frame knotted art.
